Showing Hope

We are quickly approaching March 6th, which, if you haven’t heard, is when DVN’s art exhibit, “Showing Hope” will kick-off! The DVN staff and I have been working on this show for almost a year and I can’t believe it’s just a few weeks away! So many talented artists have contributed to this show with pieces which show different elements of abusive relationships. In the past few weeks, I have been contacted daily by people wishing to participate in the show and donating truly remarkable pieces of art from oil paintings to digitally enhanced photography all of which express different forms and stages of violence.

Some of the work captures the chaos and hopelessness which one feels while in an abusive relationship; while others convey a sense of freedom in the struggle to leave and rebuild. For each artist participating, the work they are showing is deeply personal and inescapably moving. Everyone involved with this project believes that these pieces will speak to the community about domestic violence and communicate in a way that not only informs them, but moves them.
I hope you will join us on Friday, March 6th at the Athenaeum where we will host a reception with drinks and appetizers from 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m. For more information, visit our website or contact Chris Warren at cwarren@dvnconnect.org
