The Domestic Violence Network’s @Work Program
One in 3 women and 1 in 7 men experience domestic violence in their lifetimes, but do you know how to recognize and respond to domestic violence as an employer or employee? The CDC found that domestic violence costs companies $5.4 billion annually and with employer responsibility to provide a safe workplace, they’re often left in crisis situations with no clear plan.
Domestic violence is also covered by parts of the ADA and FMLA, so it’s always important for companies to consult their legal team since state and federal laws may differ depending on the size of the company.
The Domestic Violence Network offers training for HR professionals, managers/supervisors, employees, and business owners on how to recognize, respond, and refer when someone at the workplace is a victim of violence. In addition, we provide tools that assist with creating a workplace domestic violence policy and how to respond if an employee is a perpetrator of violence.
Since the launch of the @Work program in October 2015, the Domestic Violence Network has trained over 68 companies ranging in size from just a few employees to thousands. Employers and employees find value in the practical knowledge provided.
