About DVN:

The mission of Domestic Violence Network is to change the culture that leads to domestic violence through advocacy, education and collaboration.

Our work is focused on education with the idea that informing our community on issues related directly and indirectly to domestic and other types of violence will change the culture that leads to that violence. DVN does not provide direct service to victims/survivors. Our work is heavily based on prevention so our direct service providers can focus on serving those impacted by this human issue. We are currently seeking to fill a position as a Strategic Collaboration Specialist in our small, but dynamic organization.

About the position:

The Training Services Coordinator will work with the Training Services Manager on expanding and improving key adult focused programs at DVN. The Training Services Coordinator will be essential in identifying potential key partners and working on building relationships with these organizations and people. This position is community facing, and will involve various public speaking skills.

As a Training Services Coordinator, a typical day could include the following:

  • Facilitate or co-facilitate trainings, meetings, or events
  • Research, identify, and contact potential partnering organizations
  • Plan, coordinate, and attend all Advocates Network meetings
  • Develop Advocates Network program schedule on an annual basis
  • Work with existing partnerships to update them on DVNs program offerings
  • Attending trainings and events within DVNs various programs
  • Tabling events throughout the community
  • Collaborating with other team members to create marketing materials for DVN trainings and events as needed
  • Communicate with various audiences at a given time for things including, but not limited to: scheduling, coordinating, providing resources, following up on an event, or maintaining engagement
  • Monitoring request forms on a regular basis and coordinating follow ups to requests
  • Coordinate events on a regular basis which could include things such as: securing a physical location, scheduling food, setting up and monitoring Eventbrite, emailing attendees information leading up to the event, communicating with presenters, and preparing needed technology
  • Providing additional support to other programs within DVN as needed

Helpful Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with public speaking is a must
  • Ability and willingness to ask questions is a must
  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals- including but not limited to community members, business leaders, service providers, and City officials
  • Ability to write clearly and thoughtfully is strongly encouraged
  • Experience with event coordination is a plus
  • Knowledge of domestic violence prevention and intervention is helpful
  • Strong organizational skills, should have experience managing multiple competing deadlines
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and independently
  • Comfortable with multiple communication styles (ie. virtual, written, in person)
  • An understanding of Microsoft Suite and Google Suite programs
  • An overall willingness to learn and grow in any of these areas or in related areas

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time
  • Must possess valid drivers license and have access to reliable transportation
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and printer
  • Must be able to converse with others and express yourself effectively and accurately
  • Occasionally needs to lift up to 20 lbs to set up/tear down events, may require stairs

About your Supervisor:

The Training Services Manager has been working with the Domestic Violence Network for the past 5 years after completing a term of service with AmeriCorps Public Allies for the 2017-2018 program year. As a facilitator, the Training Services Manager has trained thousands of individuals in the state of Indiana, as well as facilitated training sessions across the country and internationally. They have experience working with and training medical providers, businesses, university students and staff, non-profit professionals and direct service providers, and government agencies.

They have also initiated DVN’s focus and awareness on the impact of domestic violence on the LGBTQ+ community, and have continued to bring that awareness to the communities they train. On top of all of this, they have continually grown their programs at DVN, and are at the point where they are ready to build their team to take these programs to another level!
