Working with LGBTQ+ Clients-The Julian Center
The Julian Center works toward our vision of a community where every individual is safe and respected by serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. We are prepared to serve from the time a survivor begins seeking information, to when they are ready to separate from an abusive partner, and throughout their journey to a life of self-sufficiency. Addressing this community need requires a commitment to inclusiveness as a fundamental operating principle and calls for an active and ongoing process that affirms human diversity in its many forms, including improving service and agency inclusion for LGBTQ+ survivors.
The Julian Center intentionally and meticulously reviewed and revised organizational policies and procedures, strategically incorporated the LGBTQ+ community into our outreach efforts, and added sensitivity training to the staff professional development calendar. Receiving the Services Equality Endorsement from the Domestic Violence Network is a critical step beyond us saying that The Julian Center is inclusive, welcoming, and ready to serve LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. It recognizes that The Julian Center is genuinely a place for everyone.
