The Domestic Violence Network’s Advocates Group is a network of individuals from social service organizations, law enforcement agencies, judiciaries, prosecutors’ offices, health care institutions, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders that share a concern about domestic violence in Central Indiana and interact with victims, survivors and/or perpetrators of domestic violence.
The Domestic Violence Network facilitates monthly Advocates Group meetings to foster networking among community members working to end domestic violence, to share community resources and to provide opportunities for professional development. For more information about the Advocates Group, please contact Mary-Margaret Sweeney, Training Services Manager.
“The DVN Advocates Group provides excellent professional networking opportunities. Every time I attend a group session, I meet new professionals from all over the Indianapolis area. I really appreciate the chance to expand my network and meet new people who do amazing work. Meeting new colleagues and learning about their agencies helps me do my job better, because I am constantly learning about new resources in Indianapolis.” — Director of Campus Initiatives
“This group equips me to serve the Victims of Violence that I serve. The group educates me. It gives me faces attached to resources that I can recommend to my patients. It makes it much more personal for that patient and feels safer to me when I am referring. Hopefully the group also receives something from my (our) presence.” — RN, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
