The Center for Victim and Human Rights (CVHR) seeks a highly motivated, qualified individual to serve as a full-time staff attorney at our Indianapolis location. The position will manage a diverse caseload including, but not limited to: protection order matters, joint protection order/paternity matters, and crime-victim rights counsel and advice. Starting salary is $25/hour. The successful candidate will manage the following responsibilities and possess the following qualifications:

Responsibilities: • Review case intakes and develop strategy for addressing case issues. • Manage a caseload of protection order cases and family law cases. • Prepare work product and pleadings during case management, such as legal memoranda, petitions, motions, and other administrative and court documents. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant case law and legal developments as related to protection order and family law matters. • Research and draft legal memoranda as needed. • Mentor Law Clerks and supervise Law Clerks’ caseloads. • Review written work product of Law Clerks to ensure quality, consistency in form, and substantive accuracy. • Assist Supervisory Staff Attorney and supervise Law Clerks in direct service-related projects. • Assist Supervisory Staff Attorney in conducting educational outreach programs.

Required Qualifications: • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school. • Admitted to practice before the highest court of the state, specifically the Supreme Court of the State of Indiana. • Between 0 – 5 years of post-law school experience. • Excellent academic credentials. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Proficiency in criminal and civil procedure.

Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated knowledge of crime victim rights laws and issues. • Proficiency in a second language, especially Spanish or Hindi.
