Showing Hope exhibit at the Athenaeum

In May 2016, the Domestic Violence Network will host an exhibition, “Showing Hope”, at the Art Space at the Athenaeum that explores the theme of domestic violence. Artwork highlighting issues raised by the theme as well as hope in the face of violence is sought for the curated, group show. The show will feature select artworks from local artists and survivors of violence survivors created in both private and art therapy sessions. The show is meant to create awareness of issues surrounding domestic violence.

Artists may submit work on the theme of domestic violence from any perspective (individuals, children, communal) at any phase of the experience for this show. On the First Friday in May 2016, DVN will host a reception and silent auction with the work remaining up through the end of the month.

Participants may submit artwork that is for sale OR not for sale. If artwork is offered for sale, DVN respectfully asks the artists to donate 50% of the proceeds to DVN’s emergency fund, which directly supports victims of domestic violence.  Those choosing to donate to the auction will have the ability to set the starting price and receive contact information of the purchaser. Selected artwork will be insured by DVN while in the exhibition. Submissions should be made via email by April 1st, 2016 to chandberg@dvnconnect.org or esmith@dvnconnect.org .

Please submit up to 5 low resolution, high quality images at 72dpi and no larger than 1MB each. Jpegs preferred.

On the First Friday, May 6th, there will be a reception from 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m. which is open to the public.
