• Course DescriptionThis mini workshop will overview the impact of trauma on individuals, core symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder, and basic tenants of treatment.  Included in the presentation will be an understanding of the fight/flight/freeze response during trauma, SNS arousal associated with triggers, an understanding of how breathing techniques and exposure can reduce symptoms, and the survivor’s tendency to overgeneralize their traumatic experiences to safe environments.

  Course Objectives

  Following the presentation the participant will be able to:

  • Identify the core symptoms of PTSD
  • Identify symptoms of fight/flight/freeze
  • Understand the importance of exposure in treatment
  • Identify aspects of overgeneralization related to trauma
