Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Course

Sexual Assault /Forensic Nurse Examiners are registered nurses who have completed both theory and clinical requirements in preparation to provide unbiased nursing care, treatment and evidence collection for patients reporting victimization by violence. Sexual Assault Exams are one of the sub specialties of a forensic nurse.

RNs and Advanced Practice Nurses who plan to become employed as Sexual Assault Forensic Nurse Examiners can be described as:

• Collaborative in their nursing practice – working well with other nurses, physicians, social work, outside agencies and families.

NOTE: Our Social Workers, Law Enforcement, Prosecutors and Physicians are welcome to attend the entire course or lectures of interest.  

Course dates and times

• DATES AND TIMES:
  • This is a 7 week course. The dates are March 4, 11, 18  April 1, 8, 15, 22
  • Each weekday didactic class is held from 8:30 am- 6 pm
  • Final Class Date for graduation and exams will be Friday April 22nd.
  • Clinical opportunities are discussed on the first day of class. Anticipate approx. 4 hours/wk. (Bring your calendar)

Course Location

• Classes will be at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church (418 E 34th St, Indianapolis, IN 46205)
• You will also have the opportunity to visit associated agencies through your clinical experiences.
