The Julian Center Circles® initiative will be offering our next “Bridges Out of Poverty” training here at the Julian Center on Friday, April 17, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.   Participants may arrive between 8:30a.m. and 9:00a.m.

Bridges Out of Poverty is a unique and powerful tool designed specifically for social, health, and legal services professionals.  It is also helpful for anyone who wants to learn about issues of poverty.  Based in part on Dr. Ruby K. Payne’s myth shattering A Framework for Understanding Poverty, Bridges reaches out to the millions of service providers and businesses whose daily work connects them with the lives of people in poverty.  If you didn’t grow up in poverty, you may be unaware of the “hidden rules” that govern many aspects of life for the poor.  Bridges training can help you come to a better understanding of how these hidden rules can create barriers that prevent individuals and families living in poverty from achieving and maintaining self-sufficiency.

The Julian Center is located at 2011 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.  The administration building faces Meridian and has large cement columns.  Parking is adjacent to the building on the south side.  The cost for the training is $40.  Link to www.juliancenter.org/Bridges   to register.  We are finding the Bridges material to be very useful to our employees and to our volunteer “Allies,” and wanted to share this resource with you.  6 CEU’s are available upon completion of the workshop for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LMHC/LAC/LCAC.

Please note:  we also have a student rate available.  If you are a student, please contact Marie Wiese via email at mwiese@juliancenter.org  or by phone at 317.941.2200, ext. 2312.
